Pastor’s Ponderings

For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10

The Scripture above tells us that Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. In another place Jesus said as my Father hath sent me even so send I you. At this writing we are (in obedience to His command) in Hinova, Romania working on the construction of the Hinova Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon we had two services then visited door to door in the village. We have had several professions of faith on this trip. It seems the hearts of these dear people are more open to the Gospel then those in many other parts of the world including the U.S.

This small congregation of believers have struggled for years to fulfill their desire to worship Jesus. During the communist rule their meetings were often secret and open witnessing meant they took their life into their own hands. In this beautiful valley surrounded by lush green mountains we have the privilege of seeing a beautiful church building rising out of the fertile soil of this village. Some of the faithful believers have prayed for over thirty years for God to provide a church building for them. Not only has God answered that prayer but in addition to that He has begun a great spiritual work in this place as well. This building is the very first Baptist Church to be built in this village. Already during this short construction process there have been five of the people who have been saved that plan on becoming a part of this congregation.

The Father sent His Son to seek and to save the lost. His Son has sent us to do like wise. Surely God is at work in this place. Thank you church family so very much for making this project possible. Some go, some pray, and some pay but all have a part in completing the mission that God has given us. South Fork Baptist Church, this is just one of many projects God is using us to do to help grow the Kingdom of God. May He continue to bless us as we go forward in His work in Todd, Western North Carolina, USA, and the utter most parts of the world.                                                                               ~ Homer
