Love God, Love Others, Live it Out

Pastor’s Ponderings

“But now hath God set the members everyone of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him.”
                                                                                           1 Cor. 12:18
Well it seems that finally Spring has decided to make an appearance in beautiful down town Todd.  I thought it
was never going to happen.  But God is still on the throne and the seasons still change.  Beautiful for observation
is the wonderful creation of our Dear Loving Heavenly Father.  Especially in Spring where the new growth
begins to show itself.
Speaking of new growth, as you folks know I always get excited when God places new people in the church
family at South Fork because I know God is up to something and has some plans that we don’t know about.
That is especially the case with the newest additions to the South Fork Family.  Rev. David and Sandy Cooper
will be joining the staff of our church beginning the first Sunday in June.  David will be responsible for Youth,
Missions, and Outreach as most of you know, David is a graduate of South Eastern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Wake Forest with a Master’s Degree.  He is coming from Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church in
Raleigh where he has been serving as Associate in charge of Missions.  David and Sandy have two children,
a son who is in ministry and a daughter who is a rising junior at UNCG.  I am very excited to see what direction
God is going to lead South Fork and to see what new ministries He has in mind for us to become involved in.
There truly are excited days.
June promises to be a very busy month around here.  First of all, getting David and Sandy moved in and
settled down.  The Baptist men have some major projects scheduled.  Sunday June the 9th we have planned a pot luck
(covered dish) luncheon for David and Sandy after the morning service.  This will be a meet and greet for them
and give you an opportunity to get to know them better and ask any questions you may have.  Of course the 16th
of June is Father’s Day and the ladies of the church will be preparing breakfast for the Dads of the church.  Make
sure you get your Father to church on that Sunday.  It is going to be a special day.  And finally our biggest event for
June will be our Old Fashioned Tent Revival in Cook’s Park on June 23rd thru 29th.  Pray, fast, talk and get ready for a
great moving of God in our community.  Expect God to add to the churches in our community “such as should be saved”
during these days of revival.
